Online jamabandi records in Punjab are available from 2002 onwards. Records before 2002 have not been digitized and can only be obtained by visiting respective tehsil offices.
How Jamabandi Records are Updated?
Jamabandi undergoes comprehensive updates every 5 years. Ownership changes through mutations are recorded separately in the remarks column and are later incorporated into the main Jamabandi during these updates. This means after purchasing property, the previous owner's name may still appear in the ownership section until the next update cycle.

How to Read Your Punjab Jamabandi?
Understanding your jamabandi is crucial. Here's what each column means:
Header Section - Fiscal Year of the record with Village, Tehsil & District
Column 1 - Khewat Number (Owner's ID). Current Khewat number (before '/'), previous jamabandi's reference Khewat number (after '/'). This links to owner details in Column 3.
Column 2 - Khatauni Number (Possessioner/Cultivator's ID). Cultivator's identification number, links to cultivator details in Column 4
Column 3 - Owner Details. Name of owner with father and grandfather for proper identification
Column 4 - Cultivator Details. Name of cultivator with father and grandfather, mentions "Khudkast" if owner is the cultivator
Column 5 - Source of Irrigation. Chai (well-irrigated), Nehri/Abbi (canal), Barani (rainfed)
Column 6 - Khasra Number. Land holding number (permanent, never changes), may have Murrabha number in red ink (kanal-marla system), Subdivided (if exists) Khasra numbers in black ink.
Column 7 - Area and Soil Type. Area ( Acre (A) = Largest unit, Kanal (K) = 1 Acre = 8 Kanals, Marla (M) = 1 Kanal = 20 Marlas), land classification: Gair Mumkin (uncultivated land), Barani (rainfed), Nehri (canal-irrigated), Chahi (well-irrigated).
Column 8 - Remarks. Red ink entries are latest mutations (current jamabandi period), black ink entries are old mutations (from previous jamabandi periods), Intkaal/mutation number with date, transaction details: Sale or Mortgage or Gift or Will or Mortgages or any other encumbrances. Khasra numbers and area involved. Mutation entries in remarks column serve as proof of ownership until incorporated into Column 3 (Owner Details) during the next 5-year update.
