How to read Adangal?
The Adangal has information about the land owner, as well as the land itself. The following terms are found in an Adangal:
- LP Number - Layout Permission Number. It is a unique number given by the concerned village or mandal authority for the layout
- LP Extent (Acres-Cents) - The extent of the plot in Acres and Cents
- ULPIN - Unique Land Parcel Identification Number. It is a unique identification number given as part of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme.
- Old survey no - Since 2020, Andhra Pradesh has been undergoing a resurvey where survey numbers are being re-assigned. The old survey number is the survey number before this resurvey
- Classification and sub-classification of land - contains information about what soil type (e.g. dry land, wetland) and what can cultivated on it
- Water stream - contains information about any water streams through the land and the water rate
- Account no. - the land owner’s account number. The account number of the land owner remains constant across different survey numbers. It is used to calculate the total yield of the farmer and accordingly apply taxes and subsidies
- Pattadar Name – Name of the land owner - land ownership details
- Area of Pattadar’s land (acre-cents) - area of the land
- Farming nature - nature of farming that has been happening on the land
- Name of Farmer - Name of the person who is actually farming the land. It may or may not be the owner of the land
- Area of Farming (Acre-cents) - Area of the cultivation region in acres and cents
- Remarks - Any remarks by the government authorities. Usually, this is left blank

Adangal during the buying/selling of land
The Adangal is useful when buying or selling lands. It gives information on who is the current owner of the land. It also lists the area of the land, and what kind of farming is currently being carried out.
By getting older adangals, one can also assess the previous owners, and how the land was being used before.
